The Anti-Inflammatory Properties of Turmeric

The one thing that tends to push many people towards a healthier lifestyle is sickness, and the terrible symptoms that come with experiencing an attack on your immune system. The body responds to foreign invaders or damage to the body in many ways, but one of the most common responses to stress on the body is inflammation.

Inflammation triggers the chemicals in your body to enter your blood and tissues and prepare for the fight that your body is about to undergo. This response is critical to our body’s immune system, but sometimes inflammation can persist and cause harm to your body instead.

Some natural foods have numerous healing capabilities and there is a particular spice that has been found to help reduce inflammation.


Turmeric is one of the most potent anti-inflammatory spices that you can store in your cabinet. Curcumin, the molecule credited for Turmeric’s ability to reduce inflammation, has also been found to act as an antioxidant. Scientists have discovered that Curcumin is just as effective in reducing inflammation than regular Nonsteroidal anti-Inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
